Stock Car Classics

The STOCK CAR CLASSICS story begins with an eye doctor named Brinkley Whiteside, or “Doc”, to his patients and friends. Doc’s father took him to races when he was a boy, and he was enamored with the cars and stars of the NASCAR circuit.

In 2021, he and some friends got together and decided to form a group to celebrate their shared bond not just of buying and restoring, but of taking laps in the former chariots of NASCAR stars. Doc set up a Facebook page and, a year later, had over 9,000 followers and a subgroup of 15-20 Southeast-based car owners.

Cathy Kemmerlin Named President of Stock Car Classics

Darlington, S.C. — Cathy Kemmerlin, a lifelong Darlington, South Carolina, resident and motorsports veteran, has been named President of Stock Car Classics (SCC), effective immediately. In her new role, Kemmerlin will oversee the organization’s day-to-day operations and work alongside the Board of Directors and club members to expand SCC’s mission of preserving, celebrating, and sharing the history of stock car racing.

Stock Car Classics is dedicated to bringing the rich history and heritage of NASCAR and stock car racing back to life. Founded by Brinkley “Doc” Whiteside, an optometrist with a lifelong passion for stock car racing, SCC serves as a mobile museum dedicated to preserving and showcasing the sport’s storied past. Whiteside will continue to serve as Chairman of the Board.
